CLUTCHES

The clutch is responsible for disengaging power from the engine to the gearbox when necessary. It consists of a clutch disc, a pressure plate, a diaphragm spring and a thrust bearing.  The clutch is operated by an either mechanical or hydraulic system.

Often leaks of the hydraulic system may occur, or some parts of the system may fail, linkages may also fail and the parts mentioned above are subjects to wear and may require replacement. It is also good to have in mind that the parts of the clutch mentioned above (disc, plate, bearing and spring) usually come as a kit and are replaced together as suggested by the manufacturer, no matter which part is worn at the present moment. The clutch pedal in some cases may require adjustment as part of the vehicles maintenance.
